Thought Interrupt App Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 31 July 2026

Thought Interrupt ("the App", "we", "our", "us") is published by Infomoto Ltd., a company registered in England and Wales under company number 04654408.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Thought Interrupt mobile application ("the App").

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Thought Interrupt mobile application. Our website is governed by a separate Privacy Policy.

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

The Thought Interrupt App is designed to provide Scripture-based encouragement and inspiration, helping users renew their minds through God's Word without requiring them to register an account or provide their name, email address or other contact details.

We have designed the App to minimise the amount of information processed while still providing its content, notification and subscription features.

Information Processed Through the App

You do not need to register an account or provide your name, email address, phone number or precise location to use the App.

The App stores certain preferences locally on your device and uses a limited number of third-party service providers to deliver content, authenticate the App anonymously and manage subscriptions. These providers may process limited technical, identifier and purchase information necessary to provide their services.

Google Firebase

The App uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Firestore and Firebase Anonymous Authentication.

Firebase Firestore is used to securely deliver devotional content, articles and other App resources.

Firebase Anonymous Authentication creates an anonymous user account and a randomly generated identifier, known as a Firebase User ID or UID, for your use of the App. This allows the App to access services protected by Firebase security rules without requiring you to register or provide your name, email address or other contact information.

The Firebase UID is a technical identifier. It does not directly identify you by name, but it may be used to distinguish one anonymous App user from another and to support the secure operation of the App and its subscription services.

When the App connects to Firebase, Google may also process limited technical information necessary to provide, secure and maintain its services in accordance with Google's privacy practices.

Subscriptions, Purchases and RevenueCat

The App offers auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through Apple's App Store.

Purchases and payments are processed by Apple under your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

The App uses RevenueCat to display subscription options, process and validate subscription entitlements, determine whether you have access to the App and support the restoration of previous purchases.

For these purposes, RevenueCat may process:

  • your anonymous Firebase User ID as the App User ID;

  • information about the subscription product selected;

  • purchase and subscription status;

  • transaction and receipt information supplied through Apple's purchasing system;

  • subscription commencement, renewal, expiry and cancellation information; and

  • limited technical information required to operate, secure and troubleshoot the subscription service.

The anonymous App User ID enables subscription information to be associated with your use of the App without requiring us to receive your name or email address.

Apple and RevenueCat process subscription and transaction information under their respective privacy policies and terms.

Notifications

Thought Interrupt uses local notifications to deliver Scripture-based encouragement according to the days and times you configure within the App.

When you first use the App, your device will ask whether you would like to allow notifications. If you do not grant permission, the App will not deliver notifications.

If notification permission is granted, your selected notification schedule and preferences are stored locally on your device and used to schedule Thought Interrupt notifications at the times you choose.

The App does not use third-party advertising notifications or send your notification schedule to us.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores certain information locally on your device, which may include:

  • your selected mindset journey or topic;

  • your notification days, times and preferences;

  • your reading progress;

  • previously displayed content and content history;

  • saved or favourited content, where available;

  • accessibility and display preferences;

  • locally cached subscription status; and

  • other settings required for the App to operate.

This locally stored information is used to provide and personalise the App's functionality. Your content preferences, notification schedule and reading history are not routinely transmitted to us.

Some information connected with subscription access, including your anonymous App User ID and subscription status, is processed separately through Firebase, RevenueCat and Apple as described in this Privacy Policy.

Locally stored information may be removed if you delete the App, clear its data or reset your device. It may also be transferred to another device through device backup or migration features provided by Apple, depending on your device settings.

Video Content

Some content within the App may include embedded YouTube videos.

When you choose to play a video, your device connects to YouTube. YouTube and Google may process technical information and information about your interaction with the video in accordance with their own privacy practices.

The App may also provide an option to open video content directly in the YouTube app or website.

Images

Some content within the App may include images hosted by Unsplash.

When an externally hosted image is displayed, your device may connect directly to Unsplash to retrieve it. Unsplash may process limited technical information, such as your device's internet protocol address and request information, in accordance with its own privacy practices.

How We Use Information

The limited information processed through the App is used to:

  • deliver devotional content, articles and Scripture-based resources;

  • authenticate App users anonymously and protect access to App services;

  • provide optional notifications at the days and times selected by you;

  • remember your preferences, reading progress and App settings;

  • display, validate and manage subscriptions;

  • restore qualifying purchases;

  • determine whether you have an active subscription entitlement;

  • maintain the security, reliability and operation of the App; and

  • diagnose and resolve technical or subscription-related problems.

We do not use information processed through the App for third-party advertising or direct marketing.

Information We Do Not Request

Thought Interrupt is designed to limit the personal information required to use the App.

  • We do not require you to register an account using your name or contact details.

  • We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number or postal address through the App.

  • We do not request access to your contacts, photographs, microphone or camera.

  • We do not request access to your precise location.

  • We do not use third-party advertising services.

  • We do not use information from the App to create advertising profiles.

  • We do not sell your personal information.

Although you do not register a conventional account, the App creates and uses an anonymous Firebase account and technical user identifier as described above.

Analytics and Tracking

We do not use a dedicated analytics service to analyse your reading activity or behaviour within the App.

The third-party services integrated into the App may process limited technical, diagnostic, identifier or transaction information as necessary to provide and secure their services.

We do not use information collected through the App to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes.

Legal Bases for Processing

Where applicable under United Kingdom or European data protection law, information may be processed on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • to perform a contract with you or take steps connected with providing the App and its subscription features;

  • to pursue our legitimate interests in operating, protecting, maintaining and improving the reliability of the App;

  • to comply with legal obligations; and

  • where required, on the basis of your consent, such as your decision to enable notifications.

You may withdraw notification permission at any time through your device settings.

Data Retention

Information stored locally remains on your device until it is removed by you, removed through an App reset, overwritten as part of the App's normal operation or deleted when the App is removed, subject to any device backup or migration settings.

Anonymous identifiers, transaction records and subscription information processed by Firebase, RevenueCat and Apple may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide subscription services, maintain transaction records, prevent fraud, resolve disputes and comply with legal obligations. The applicable third-party provider determines its own retention periods under its privacy policy.

International Data Processing

Some of the third-party providers used by the App operate internationally. Information processed by these providers may therefore be transferred to or stored in countries outside the United Kingdom or the country in which you live.

Where required by applicable law, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards implemented by the relevant service provider.

Children's Privacy

The App does not require users to provide their name, email address or other contact details.

We do not knowingly request or collect personal information directly from children through the App. However, the technical identifiers and limited service information described in this Privacy Policy may still be processed when the App is used.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the details below.

Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information relating to you, including the right to:

  • request access to personal information;

  • request correction of inaccurate information;

  • request deletion of information in certain circumstances;

  • object to or request restriction of certain processing;

  • request the transfer of information in a portable format, where applicable;

  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and

  • make a complaint to the relevant data protection authority.

Because the App does not require your name or contact information, we may be unable to identify information as relating to you without additional information, such as the anonymous technical identifier associated with your installation.

To exercise an applicable right or ask a question about information relating to your use of the App, please contact us using the details below.

If you are located in the United Kingdom, you also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information processed in connection with the App against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.

Access to Firebase content is protected using authentication and security rules, and subscription purchases are processed through Apple's purchasing infrastructure and validated using RevenueCat.

However, no method of electronic transmission, processing or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App, its third-party services or applicable legal requirements.

Any updated version will be made available within the App or on our website and will display a revised effective date.
